Also known as the trichinopoly chain, it is claimed that Viking Knit jewelry was made for nobles as a sign of status. It is possible that some types of armour had been made from this type of weaving as well, but would be stiff and difficult to move around in. It is possible that the trichinopoly design derived from NÃ¥lebinding, an old technique to create fabric in Scandinavian countries and some areas of Peru. Unlike NÃ¥lebinding, which uses many strands of material (yarn, thread, etc), trichinopoly only requires a continuous length of material. Here, we will be using wire to create most of the items on Sapphire Tears.
All of the Viking Knit jewelry on this page has been hand made and woven by Mimiru with great care. Please enjoy the beautiful pieces displayed here, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
